Marvin K. Gardner

Marvin Kent Gardner, born in 1952, is a Latter-day Saint hymnwriter and editor known for writing the hymn "Press Forward, Saints." He served as a missionary in Colombia and later studied at Brigham Young University. Gardner worked as an editor for the Ensign, New Era, Friend, and Liahona magazines from 1978 to 2005, playing a significant role on the Hymnbook Executive Committee for the 1985 LDS English Language Hymnbook. He is currently an associate teaching professor of English language and linguistics at BYU and has also taught religion classes there.
