Jeffrey Shumway
Dr. Jeffrey Shumway is a distinguished pianist and former member of the Brigham Young University faculty. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree from Brigham Young University, followed by a Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School and a Doctor of Music degree from Indiana University. Dr. Shumway joined BYU's piano faculty in 1985 and held the position of Head of Keyboard Studies from 1987 to 2006. Throughout his tenure at BYU, Dr. Shumway excelled not only as a teacher but also as a performer and recording artist. He accompanied fellow BYU musicians, arranged compositions for the piano, and contributed his talents to both The American Piano Duo and The American Piano Quartet. His commitment to musical excellence and education has left a lasting impact on the BYU community and beyond, reflecting his dedication to both performance and pedagogy in the realm of classical piano.
