BYU Vocal Point is Brigham Young University’s premiere 9-man a cappella group. Referred to by some as “an optical illusion for your ears,” BYU Vocal Point’s inventive style, innovative arrangements, and incredible vocal percussion continue to wow audiences worldwide.
Founded in 1991 by then BYU students Bob Ahlander and Dave Boyce, Vocal Point have had a number of achievements over their 20+ years, including taking 1st place in the 2006 International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA), placing 2nd in the 2011 ICCA, and entertaining millions on NBC’s nationally televised a cappella competition, “The Sing-Off.”
In 2018 Vocal Point signed a recording deal with Decca Gold, Universal Classics, US, part of Universal Music Group (UMG), the world’s largest music company. With this new deal, UMG will be helping Vocal Point with all aspects of their brand, including physical and digital music release and distribution, touring, social media and more.
“Vocal Point has been bringing joy and incredible musicality to audiences for many years, and so I am delighted they have joined Universal to take their collective talents to an even wider audience both here in the U.S.A. and around the world.”
– Graham Parker, president of Universal Classics, US
The nine members of Vocal Point are comprised entirely of BYU students. With a talent to entertain, please take a listen to the music these young men create.
