Michael Hicks
Dr. Michael Hicks, professor of music theory at Brigham Young University, earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and has been teaching at BYU since 1985. Beyond his role as a musician, Dr. Hicks is an accomplished author and poet with four books and numerous published poems and articles to his name. His extensive repertoire includes chamber and solo pieces performed worldwide for decades. Dr. Hicks' piano prowess is featured on several Tantara albums, while his singer-songwriter talents are showcased on his album "Valentine St." He has received multiple awards for his insightful writings on music and is esteemed for his profound musical expertise.
