Ray Smith
Dr. Ray Smith, professor of saxophone at Brigham Young University, holds a Bachelor of Music Education from BYU, along with Master and Doctor of Music degrees in Woodwinds Performance from Indiana University. Beyond saxophone, Dr. Smith excels in flute, bassoon, clarinet, oboe, and several other instruments. He performs regularly with the Utah Symphony and the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, and is a key member of the Tantara band, Q’d Up. When not performing, Dr. Smith directs BYU Synthesis, conducts musical clinics, and adjudicates jazz festivals.
